With no real data, we can only offer opinions, based on anecdotal evidence. I know lots of people who maintain their subscriptions, but who rarely play. Possibly the entire genre is exhausted.

Blizzard has the attitude now that the players will take anything they are fed, and they may be right. The company is a marketing-power monopoly, like Microsoft, and the corporate attitude is showing up more and more.

No other company has the financial resources to compete in the field, so possibly people will pay fifty cents a day to have an artfully designed chat room. That’s what I mostly use it for these days.
